Attend the keynote presentation “Attention Economy” by Monika Matuszewska from LaMatu, held on 8th of December 2022 at 14:40 at the main stage of the Rustaveli Theater in Tibilisi. This presentation will be a part of the 2022 edition of the Touch Summit in Georgia, a largest international Tech Conference in Caucasus region takes place on December 7-8, 2022. Attention Economy
Modern technology brought us many blessings, but it is also fraught with some serious risks. As we become more dependent on the use of our digital devices, we find that dealing with distractions such as constant social media updates and news notifications is becoming increasingly hard. Our attention spans and the ability to think deeply became victims of the battle for our attention waged by the tech companies and advertising giants. As a result, our mental capacity to maintain focus and concentration inevitably suffer. We find it harder and harder to focus on a single task at work, let alone to read a book in our free time.
This session will touch upon current trends such as social media detox and dopamine fasting and examine the possible impact on our mental health. We will explore the human needs, discover how information leads to stress formation and expose the mechanism of addiction in the context of modern technology and media. We will learn to take a step back to re-evaluate which of the messages that we focus on are merely distractions. Spoiler alert: you may discover that it’s time to take charge of where you focus your attention and decide it’s time to declutter your digital life.
