Born at Stanford University, through the initiative of professors William Burnett and David J. Evans, “Designing Your Life” quickly became the university’s most popular elective. Now also available in Amsterdam!

For each step, the expert facilitators introduce a tool, invite you to do some personal reflection, and then move into small groups for peer-to-peer exchange to enrich your own reflections and to learn from each other.

Language and Time Zone
StartDock Holding BV, besides its headquarters at Herengracht in Amsterdam has several offices in Amsterdam and Rotterdam. StartDock locations are a co-working and office spaces designed mostly home to budding entrepreneurs, freelancers and small startups. Togetherness is high and a lot of knowledge is shared, both informally and through organised events.
Right in the midst of the Amsterdam’s hustle and bustle, inside the buildings’ brick walls, there is a tranquility that oozes hard work by the almost one hundred entrepreneurs that found their home at StartDock. The interior of both canal houses has been completely modernised, except for the modern floors, the quintessential Amsterdam stairs and the Golden Age meeting rooms, that make you feel like you stepped right into Dutch history.
The Herengracht location used to be a traditional Dutch canal mansion and later a German bank. The large heavy safe in the basement gives away the true identity of the original occupants of this building. Where once lay piles of banknotes, diamonds and invaluable relics of ABN-AMRO customers, there is now a Chesterfield sofa and a soccer table. StartDock found a slightly different use for our spaces than originally intended, keeping the perky look and feel of the building, including a chandelier; and replaced the stuffy original population with colorful vibrant entrepreneurs.
The Netherlands
The Keizersgracht office, with its canal views, is a truly luxurious and unique location. It’s just a small leap from the other location at the Herengracht. The garden, has the perfect positioning in relation to the sun, so when it peaks around the corner, you can always step outside for a quick break or even an outside meeting. This office will be the venue of the workshop.

About the Facilitators
Adis Sophie is a seasoned facilitator with a decade of corporate experience in sales, marketing and innovation in the sustainability space. She is a Life Design passionate. Her inclusive approach fosters an environment of openness and growth.
Mario, born in New York and living in France, is a certified Designing Your Life partner and has conducted DYL workshops for organisations or professionals since 2020. Mario has a Ph.D. in research psychology, and is a recognised creativity & innovation consultant, having worked for over a hundred international organisations.
