EVENT DETAILS
Attend the keynote presentation “Design Your Career” by Monika Matuszewska from LaMatu, held on the evening of 19th of November 2024 at the main campus of the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. This presentation will be a part of the CEMS conference, consisting of a whole evening of inspirational TED-style talks, and networking. LaMatu will be sharing the stage with other CEMS speakers representing various specialties. On behalf of the CEMS Alumni Club for Rotterdam, please join fellow CEMS alumni and current cohort for an exciting programme of short talks on hot topics, plus plenty of time to socialise and network.
Join CEMS alumna Monika Matuszewska of 2005 for an inspiring session where she bridges her academic path with her career journeys, spanning across 26 years. Holding four Master’s degrees and having studied at four universities, University of Warsaw, SGH Warsaw School of Economics, University of Duisburg-Essen ESADE Business School Barcelona, Monika’s studies in international business, marketing, management, linguistics, teaching, and culture have profoundly shaped her own career choices.
Her speech weaves together the principles of Taoist philosophy with design thinking principles. Discover how to shape a career that reflects your values and passions in a world that is non-linear. By integrating insights from Taoism with actionable design strategies, Monika will guide you toward building a fulfilling and purpose-driven professional path. Uncover practical tools to design a career uniquely aligned with who you are.
Second talk will be delivered by Dr. Philip Eskenazi, a CEMS alum of 2009. Everybody wants to be happy, but no one reads the textbook. In this talk, Dr. Phil shares key insights from the science of happiness. If you’re like most homo sapiens, you’re doing it wrong: your monkey brain doesn’t want you to be happy, because happy monkeys don’t survive. Positive psychology offers clear guidelines on how to lead a more fulfilling life. Learn the principles, apply them to your life, and get happier!
Dr. Philip Eskenazi works in Executive Education at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. He finds happiness in helping rich people get happier. He also teaches decision making, drawing on his vast personal experience of bad decisions.

ABOUT ERASMUS UNIVERSITY
Located in the Netherlands in the city of Rotterdam, the university was established in 1913 in an effort to bring high education to the industrial world port city. Named after Dutch humanist Desiderius Erasmus, the university played a central role in the post-industrial transitions of Rotterdam. Its fields of expertise are Economics and Management, Medicine and Health Sciences, and Law, Culture and Society.
Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) blends high-quality education and research with an enriching global perspective. International rankings list EUR among the world’s leading players. It is known for the quality of its lectures, expertise of the staff and offering promising career prospects for its graduates. Over the past 51 years, RSM has developed research and delivered education which nurtures imagination, determination and expertise. Its mission is that its global community can deliver lasting, meaningful positive change. Its alumni are senior leaders, designing the future in their industries and on the global stage.
Erasmus University is well-embedded in the city of Rotterdam and at the same time it has a strong international orientation. Its financial impact – as assessed by the European Foundation for Management Development – tops €470 million, just in the Randstad region. From its early days the university had a high percentage of minority students, especially many first-generation students and students with a migration background. The institution prides itself to be based on the concept of a multicultural classroom. Known for its global mindset, around 20% of the students come from abroad. Furthermore, half of all students enrolled in English-taught programs come from outside the Netherlands. One of those programmes is CEMS, the Community of European Management Schools.
The Rotterdam School of Management (RSM) has been a top-ranked European business school for over 46 years, thanks to the high-quality team of academics and the combination of intellectual and practical approach. Just like the Netherlands, RSM is considered one of the most international and innovative universities in Europe. The quality and the culture of the university make RSM one of the best experiences for your both local and international students, including CEMS.
The results speak for themselves. This university is ranked among the top business schools in Europe. The FT ranks its EMBA programme number one in the Netherlands and in the top ten globally for corporate social responsibility.
ABOUT CEMS
CEMS is a strategic alliance of leading business schools and companies offering a unique Master in International Management with the aim to educate and prepare future generations of international business leaders. The Global Alliance in Management Education was founded in France in 1988. The Global Alliance in Management Education, originally known as Community of European Management Schools is an alliance of 34 top business schools as many countries, nearly 70 corporate partners and 8 social partners, delivering together the CEMS Master in International Management to 1,200 students with a network of over 15,000 alumni across the globe.
“When CEMS first started, the first letter in the abbreviation stood for “Community”. The “C” is the starting point of CEMS; a word that the alliance has taken as its point of departure. The strength of CEMS is the recognition that individual organisations are stronger, more inspiring, and more interesting when they team up.”
– Lars Strannegård, CEMS Chair, President of Stockholm School of Economics
